It is composed of a forest mixture. It retains up to 70% of its own weight in water; thanks to this percentage, it stays moist longer. This means less water usage.
Mushroom compost should be mixed with soil and not used alone to grow plants. If you amend your soil with pure mushroom compost, you should mix it in a ratio of one part compost to two parts soil.
For best results when gardening with mushroom compost, mix it thoroughly with garden soil before planting or let it rest over winter and apply it in the spring.
