Mushroom compost can be applied in the garden, vegetable patch, lawn and even in your flower beds. It stands out for the aeration it keeps in the soil to improve the roots' ability to absorb nutrients and oxygen. It enriches any type of soil, improves the structure of sandy or clayey soil.
It is composed of a forest mixture and agri-food sludge. It retains up to 70% of its own weight in water, thanks to this percentage it stays wet longer. Which means less water use.
Mushroom compost should be mixed with soil and should not be used alone to grow plants. If you amend your soil with pure mushroom compost, you should mix it in a ratio of one part compost to two parts soil. For the best results when gardening with mushroom compost, mix it thoroughly with garden soil before planting or let it sit over winter and apply it in spring.
