Lime allows for a dense, green and healthy lawn by making soil nutrients and fertilizers more available to the plant. Indeed, the calcium present in lime neutralizes the acidity of the soil solution. Generally, turfs need one maintenance application per season to counteract the acidifying effect of nitrogen fertilizers. Our lime is quickly effective, its granulation facilitates spreading and it also contains magnesium, an essential element for plants.
Lime can be applied at any time (from April to November). The faster it is applied, the faster it will be effective! Some apply it a second time in the fall to maintain a pH between 6 and 7 (so not acidic) which is ideal for turf. Otherwise, a soil analysis will allow you to know your exact lime needs based on the acidity of the soil.
